"Andy & Pat's Groovy Cosmic Love Hour Funky Forty-Fives Vol.II"

Big Beef Records (BBCD11)

This unique and highly entertaining project is another great party album and a must have for fans of fun-loving obscure garage rock and cult music collectors! It features tons of rocking, weird and whacked out rarities both featured on as well as inspired by the classic cable television show of the same name.

This second volume of this popular series picks up right from where the first volume left off, compiling such thrift store classics as the ersatz surf sounds of MEN IN SPACE and THE NOBLES, along with the part epic history lesson, part love ballad "Battle of Gettysburg" by FRED DARIAN. There's the jungle pop of THE HAPPY JESTERS with "Abba Dabba Honeymoon", who also perform their number with what is assuredly one of the greatest song titles ever, "How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Love You When You Know I've Been A Liar All My Life". On the sweet but strange front, there's THE DILLY SISTERS doing "Love Is Blue", set to the timeless melody of "Greensleeves" (proving it can be "time's up" for even the most timeless of art). PAUL CHAPLAIN AND HIS EMERALDS, a featured highlight on the first volume, return with their rocking lament of addiction with "Nicotine". There are the prerequisite bizarre classic rock covers, including a pretty rippin' version of "Eleanor Rigby" by the EAGLE ROCK HIGH SCHOOL BAND. And if this wasn't all enough, the entire project is weaved together with loads of humorous and strange beat movie and sci-fi samples from C-grade films from the Fifties and Sixties.
